Meet Chelsea
Chelsea Rice, LCSW
I am from St. Louis originally and my experience of growing up in the area gives me valuable insights into the educational and social climate of the local community. I attended Rossman Elementary School and John Burroughs. My educational and professional experiences led me to exciting life stages in North Carolina and Massachusetts. I completed my bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Communication at Wake Forest University and I received my master’s degree in clinical social work from Boston College. In 2015 after spending three years in Boston, I decided to return to my roots in St. Louis to be closer to family. I currently practice therapy part-time which allows me to spend invaluable time with my two young daughters. My husband and I adore our sweet girls and our two dogs, Stella and Cosmo.
Chelsea’s Experience
I am a licensed clinical social worker and I have been practicing therapy for 10 years. I enjoy providing individual therapy services to clients who experience a wide array of struggles including life transitions, anxiety, eating disorders, grief, infertility, relationship issues and depression.
I have specialized training on providing therapy to male clients and I strive to create an empathic, safe space for all clients, including males, to learn how to express themselves in a vulnerable way, in particular when doing so goes against a societal or familial norm. Through my previous work in the counseling department at Washington University in St. Louis, I found a passion for guiding individuals through grief and loss. I provided individual and group therapy to students who lost a loved one and I strongly believe in the power of connection in coping with the isolating nature of grief.
Previously, I treated eating disorders and co-occurring disorders in a residential treatment center located in Ballwin, Missouri. Through my years of treating eating disorders, I have gained experience addressing the underlying issues that tend to drive these maladaptive coping strategies. I have been grateful to witness individuals learn how to trust their bodies and themselves in the process of healing. I also worked as a therapist in an adult partial hospitalization program, treating chemical dependency and co-occuring disorders, in Boston, Massachusetts.
I greatly value the importance of fostering a trusting, secure therapeutic connection. I provide non-judgmental feedback, encouragement and compassion to help you develop a cohesive, empathic understanding of your life’s story and identify an adaptive, empowered path forward.
